We look forward to hearing from you

There are always questions, such as "Where do I even start?" or "How Can I help?" If you have any questions regarding the process please feel free to reach out via the form below.

If you are interested in receiving help from P4P there are some initial steps needed by the family prior:

You must be Home Approved

A home is considered approved for adoption when it meets the state's requirements for safety and suitability for a child. This is determined through an adoption home study, which is a pre-placement assessment that evaluates the prospective adoptive family. The home study includes:

Home Inspection
The home is inspected for safety, including the presence of smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, functioning heating and cooling, and child-proofing.

Interviews
The adoptive family is interviewed by an evaluator, both together and separately.

Document Collection
Important documents are collected, including criminal background checks, financial information, birth certificates, marriage licenses, and health records.

Report
The evaluator submits a report to the court that summarizes their findings and opinion on the family's suitability as adoptive parents. The home study process can be made smoother by preparing the home and asking the social worker for a checklist ahead of time.

A Home

You must have a Lawyer

Adoptive parents in North Carolina, regardless of the type of adoption they pursue, will require the guidance of a skilled adoption attorney to complete the legal process of welcoming a child into their family. Adoption involves various parties working together toward a common goal, and navigating the legal requirements to safeguard everyone's rights can be complex. If these steps are not addressed correctly from the beginning, it can lead to unnecessary delays and confusion.

You must seek the Lord!

Families embarking on the spiritual journey of adoption need the Lord at the center of their lives and the prayers of fellow believers. Here are some specific ways to pray as you navigate the pre-adoption phase:

Pray for peace during the process
May you find peace amid the paperwork, fundraising, education, waiting, and the release of control over circumstances you cannot manage.

Pray for the joy in the juggling
As you balance current family duties while preparing for adoption. Pray that you can avoid comparing their journey to others and trust that God is using you in meaningful ways during the waiting period.

Pray for love for your future child
That unconditional love will blossom as you prepare for a child who may come from difficult circumstances. Ask for patience and selflessness as you nurture a child who may struggle with trust and exhibit challenging behaviors.

Pray for Godly wisdom
That you will discern the right choices in every aspect of the adoption process, including the who, what, when, where, and how of each decision.
